Jamaica Land We Love (Jalawelo) is a Christian faith-based nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering sustainable community development initiatives in Jamaica. Our mission is to empower local changemakers and communities through impactful programs rooted in Christian faith and values. We are seeking an exceptional individual to lead our efforts in Jamaica as a Program Coordinator.

Position Overview

The Program Coordinator will be the key liaison between Jalawelo's US-based team and Jamaican partners, ensuring the successful execution of our mission in Jamaica. This contract-based position offers a unique opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, engage with communities, and contribute to sustainable development programs. The role demands strong leadership, tech-savviness, creativity, and a deep alignment with Jalawelo’s Christian values.

Responsibilities:

  • Executive Director Support:

    • Provide administrative and logistical support to the US-based executive director.

    • Serve as a liaison between the executive director and on-the-ground operations.

  • Program Oversight:

    • Develop and implement program plans and strategies in alignment with Jalawelo's mission and goals.

    • Monitor program progress and outcomes, ensuring accountability and effectiveness.

  • Partner Relations:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with local partners and community leaders.

    • Represent Jalawelo in interactions with partners, demonstrating a commitment to our values and mission.

    • Conduct visits to partner sites to monitor program progress and ensure effective implementation.

  • Beneficiary Engagement:

    • Directly engage with beneficiaries, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard.

    • Provide support and guidance to beneficiaries as needed.

  • Technology and Communications:

    • Utilize technology effectively to manage programs and communicate with stakeholders.

    • Learn and adapt to new software and platforms as needed.

    • Contribute to and help develop articles and other content for Jalawelo's social media platforms.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in project management, including planning, executing, and overseeing projects to ensure successful completion.

  • Demonstrated comfort and familiarity with workplace technology-based tools. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology-based platforms.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage empathetically with community members.

  • Ability to operate independently and with integrity to manage time effectively in a virtual office environment.

  • Ability to think creatively and problem-solve effectively, especially when facing program challenges or adapting strategies.
